I remember a time when I lived in Ohio that I said, “If I could just find a way to live in Florida, I wouldn’t complain about anything.” A very naive statement for sure. Since moving to Florida in 2011 there have been many complaints. It seems that when one goal is reached, another must be made. There is absolutely nothing wrong with setting new goals and striving for success. Where most of us fall short is not showing gratitude for what we have. We neglect to give ourselves a minute to savor our success. This lack of gratitude holds us back. Always striving for more can only add to our anxiety. We will always be searching for the next thing to make us happy or feel accomplished. Let’s start understanding that we have accomplished much in our lives and, yes, there is still more to be done. Look at everything that you have accomplished so far and be proud. We all deserve that much.
Anxiety can take over our lives. Every minute of every day can seem like a constant struggle to stay afloat. It affects our decisions, our relationships, every aspect of life. For years I have tried to fight anxiety. I have tried to get the upper hand. It is a fight that I cannot win. I have decided instead to embrace who I am and try to figure out ways to work with it. I want to understand more about why I feel the way that I do and find ways to embrace the good that it does and steer clear of the chaos that it can create. I have decided to take control of my Anxiety Driven Life.
